Part 4: Other Pool Accessories

A variety of accessories are available for your pool. Also, a look at the different forms of chlorine available.

Solar Pool Covers

A must have to keep evaporation and heat in. This product can raise your pool temperature significantly in the spring when the days are getting longer. Along with a pool heater you can enjoy your pool much earlier than other folks around.

Solar Reels

Solar Reelsare made to fit most pools and allow quick and easy storage of the solar blanket. http://www.feherguard.com

Ornamental Fencing

Available in 4' or 5' heights. along with gates + attachments wrought iron + aluminum available for a special way to complete the perimeter around your pool or property. Website: http://www.fenceonline.com

Sand Filters

If your pool is older your sand filter may be worth replacing if there are little leafs or cracks present. Visit http://www.haysardnet.com. They are a supplier of assorted pool products.

In-Line Chlorinators

These make it easy to keep the chlorine level stable in your pool. These are usually installed after the filter on the way back to the pool. Never install a chlorinator so that the outlet goes through a pool heater. This will result in premature failure of the heater. Most can use either pucks or sticks and have a dial valve to regulate the rate of feed.

Types of chlorine to use

We get asked about this a lot so we wanted to respond with some points on this.

Liquid Chlorine

Although the least expensive to purchase; it is bulky, heavy to handle, raises Ph way up, reduces its strength in storage and without proper stabilizer dissipates rapidly in sunlight. For newer pool users we do not recommend using liquid chlorine.

Stabilized Chlorine Granular

This has a high chlorine content and can be sprinkled onto the surface of the pool. It dissolves quickly, has little effect oh Ph but is the most costly sanitizer.

Pucks or sticks

Granular material compressed into sticks or pucks. It has the highest chlorine content and as such must be handled properly. It can be added to in-line chlorinators and is easily transported, slow dissolving and offers a way to meter the rate into the pool. This is the most popular product, and is what we recommend for most people.

Our prices are competitive at $39.95 for 6 kg of super pucks. Come in and browse through our pool accessories, and we guarantee a sharp price for everybody!
