Our first solar installation

Comfort Shoppe completes our first roof -mount installation in late July!

Here are the steps we went thru to get our system online:

1/ We applied for an OPA Microfit contract with our customer in June fortunately we got a contract offer back within 30 days

2/ The site was analyzed using the soleye solar analysis tracking tool which gave 90 % solar yield plus readings .the site was good

2/ We obtained high quality Schuco solar panels and SMA inverter and wiring

3/ Work started and the hardest part was to layout the panels properly on the roof the roof trusses have to be located and chalk lines snapped in order to anchor the panels onto the roof

4/ The DC wiring was then run in conduit back to the inverter which we located in the basement . these inverters are rated for outdoor use however we deemed less exposure to hot and cold wet and dry would be best!

5/ESA and Hydro One were onsite to supervise the tie in and finally the next day the system was energized after the meter was installed by Hydro One

6/ The first day the system produced 20 KWH as it was sunny even during overcast periods in the days following the panels do produce some power

7/ This customer is on his way to enjoying a great return on his investment 10-12% try and get that from the bank !

The installation features 3 strings of panels 9 modules each for output of 4.5 KW

These SMA inverters feature digital info readouts along with remote monitoring via the internet this is a Sunnyboy SB4000

Note the DC Disconnect below the inverter.

Now we have the customer meter on the left he buys power at 8 Cents KWH and the generation meter is on the right side he sells power back at 80.2 cents per KWH
